Instructions:
  1. Select a lifestyle and weight of horse. ( Note: Weights will change based on the lifestyle selected )

  2. Read daily calorie requirement in upper left window.

  3. Read daily hay requirement in the lower left corner. If horse is grazing unlimited pasture or offered free-choice hay, amount of feed should be adjusted to maintain body condition while supplying adequate protein, vitamins and minerals. If the amount of feed to maintain body condition is below 3 lbs per day, a concentrated supplement such as Nature's Essentials Born to Win or Mare & Maintenance may be a more appropriate choice.

NOTES:
Start with the amounts given for the weight and class of horse. However, individual horse variation may require feeding rate adjustment by plus or minus 10-15% (do not increase or decrease amount fed by more than 1 lb per day). However, the horse's body condition should be assessed at regular intervals (every 2-3 weeks) and the amount fed either increased or decreased to maintain the desired body condition.

When feeding lactating broodmares, if the foal eats with the mare increase amount offered by 1 pound per month of age per day. Select Omolene 300 or Strategy.
^ If using alfalfa hay use 1/2 to 1 lb/horse/day LESS of Purina feed recommended above.

& Horse Chow may be fed to replace the hay and the grain required; however, additional grain may be fed for best results.

~ When feeding Equine Senior or Equine Adult with hay, reduce about 1 lb. for each 2-3 lb. of hay fed.

@ Feed Equine Junior as a complete feed, however, to alleviate boredom a maximum of 5 lbs. of good quality hay may be fed.

+ Make feed changes gradually over 7-10 days. Weigh feed with a scale. Each horse is different. Based on your observations, you may have to adjust the feeding rates. If feeding more than the suggested amount of hay, then reduce the recommended amount of feed. If body condition can be maintained with less than 3 pounds of concentrate, then supplement the hay or pasture with Nature's Essential's Born to Win, Mare & Maintenance, or Free Balance 12:12.
