Late Gestation (last 90 days)—In the last three months of gestation, the fetus begins to grow quite rapidly, gaining approximately one pound per day. During this time it is critical to the growth and development of the foal that the mare be fed adequate protein, vitamins and minerals. Just keeping the mare in good flesh isn’t enough.
