Serviceberry or Saskatoon Berry (Amelanchier alnifolia).
This is a shrub or small tree that grows up to 13 ft (4 m) tall, primarily on rocky slopes, canyons, and streamsides at altitudes from 5000 to 9500 ft (1500 to 2900 m). Its leaves are simple, alternate, petioled, oval to suborbicular in shape and with margins coarsely serrate or dentate. The inflorescence is a raceme with perfect regular flowers. The five petals are white and 1/4 to 3/ 8 inch (6 to 10 mm) long. The ovary has five styles, developing into a purple pome when ripe.
