Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea).
Foxglove is a native plant of Europe that was introduced to North America and escaped cultivation to become widespread in the northwest. It prefers disturbed rich soils along roadsides, fences, and unused areas. It is a perennial herb growing 3 to 5 ft (1 to 1.5 m) tall with alternate toothed, hairy basal leaves. The characteristic purple or white tubular pendant flowers have conspicuous spots on the inside bottom surface of the tube.
