Field Bindweed (Morning Glory)
Field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis), found throughout North America, is an extremely persistent, invasive, perennial, twining or creeping weed with alternate leaves and white or pink funnel-shaped flowers. The plant reproduces readily from seed and from its extensive root system. The toxins in bindweed, are present in all parts of the plant. Colic as the result of intestinal paralysis, decreased heart rate, and dilated pupils may result if toxic levels of bindweed are consumed. No specific treatment is known.
